In a letter to the PA State System of Higher Education community, board chair Cindy Shapira announced that she will recommend Dr. Chris Fiorentino take over as temporary chancellor after Dan Greenstein officially steps down next month.
Fiorentino is the former president of West Chester University and just retired from there after serving the university for over 40 years starting as a faculty member and working his way up from there. He and Greenstein have officially worked together for six years, and he has said he has no interest in applying for the permanent chancellor’s position.
Greenstein will have at least one more task as chancellor, and that is to present the system’s 2024-25 priorities at the meeting in October, when Fiorentino is expected to be approved.
The board is also launching a nation-wide search for the next chancellor. They expect the process to continue well into the spring semester. They will be seeking input from students, faculty, staff and alumni along with others to help with that search. PASSHE has set up a page on its website to keep people updated with the ongoing hunt for a new chancellor. Click on the link below to access that page.
