The Republican Party of Pennsylvania and the Republican National Committee are appealing a recent ruling by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court concerning mail-in ballots.
The appeal challenging the ruling that ballots sent with incorrect or missing dates must be counted was filed on Tuesday. It accuses the court of deviating from precedent and ignoring defects in the lawsuit that challenged the issue originally. The brief issued by the Republican Party said the decision “threatens to unleash chaos, uncertainty and an erosion of public confidence in the 2024 general election.”
The case is expected to be fast-tracked. Mail in balloting starts September 16th.
