Indiana University of Pennsylvania has announced plans for its annual celebration of Constitution Day.
On September 17th, IUP will commemorate the 237th anniversary of the constitution with a reading of the document starting at noon in front of the Stapleton Library facing the Oak Grove. Dr. Michael Driscoll will be joined by other members of the community taking turns in reading portions of the Constitution. In case of inclement weather, the reading will be in the lobby of Jane E. Leonard Hall. This year marks the 16th public reading of the constitution at IUP.
Leonard Hall will also be the site of the Chat with the Founding Fathers that day. Political science emeritus faculty Dr. David Chambers and Dr. Mac Fiddner along with professor Dr. Joe Mannard will portray Ben Franklin, Charles Pickney and James Madison respectively as they discuss their work at the constitutional convention. That will run from 5:30 to 7:00 at room 126 of Leonard Hall.
