The Penguins were unable to fly to Detroit to play the Red Wings in a preseason game scheduled last night. They hope to have the issue resolved in time for tonight’s Hockeyville game against the Ottawa Senators in Sudbury, Ontario.
The team issued the following statement:
The Pittsburgh Penguins regret that we were not able to travel to Detroit this afternoon as planned for our game against the Red Wings. Continued mechanical issues with our team plane were not able to be rectified and despite great effort, there was no method to travel to Detroit safely.
We are extremely sorry for the inconvenience caused to all fans, media, officials and the Red Wings who were already at Little Caesars Arena.
