Today is going to be a busy day in Indiana as IUP’s Homecoming Celebration goes into full swing.
The annual parade kicks off at 10:00 AM and will start at 11th and Philadelphia Streets, and take its traditional route to 6th and Philadelphia, then turn south onto Sixth, west onto Church, then southwest on Oakland Avenue, with the parade wrapping up at the intersection of 11th Street and Oakland Avenue. Those coming into town can expect the parade route to be blocked to traffic, so you may want to find an alternate route.
This year’s parade will feature close to eighty units, including 11 floats that will highlight the theme of “Board and Card Games”. Student groups representing Greek life, student clubs and even a sports team or two will present the floats on games ranging from Monopoly and Operation to Loteria and Poker.
The parade starts at 10:00 AM. We’ll have coverage of the parade on the Renda Digital TV YouTube Channel.
Following the parade from 11-2 will be the Alumni and Friends Crimson Huddle party at the KCAC. This will feature over 35 reunion groups and performances by the IUP Marching Band, IUP Cheerleaders and the band “Count Me In”.
The Homecoming football game between IUP and Slippery Rock starts at 2:00. We’ll have more on the game coming up in sports.
