Alice (DeForno) Whitesel, 88, of Indiana, passed away Sunday, October 6, 2024 at Indiana Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
A daughter of the late Malhon and Pauline (Tomashosky) DeForno, she was born July 29, 1936 in Salina, Pa.
Alice worked for Robert Shaw in Indiana and then at WearEver Aluminum Company in New Kensington, before her children were born, at which point she took over the role of homemaker.
She was a member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church, where she volunteered in the St. Bernard school cafeteria for many years. She enjoyed her family, visiting with her wonderful neighbors, going to garage sales, putting puzzles together and attending her grandchildren’s activities and sporting events.
Alice is survived by her children and their spouses: Barbara (Roger) Swasy of Lake Wylie, South Carolina; Darla (James) Mathe of Indiana; Dale (Kathleen) Whitesel of Indiana and David (Judy) Whitesel of Indiana. She will be missed by her grandchildren: Maria, Seth, Joy Swasy and Tyler (Katherine) Swasy; Adam (Alyssa) Mathe and Marita Mathe; Tricia (Drew) Lehocky, and Patrick (Amber) Whitesel; Great-grandchildren: Scarlett and Violett Lehocky, Marveyah Whitesel and Morgan Mathe; her brother-in-law and spouse: Robert (Kay) Whitesel; sister-in-law: Elizabeth Whitesel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her husband: C. William Whitesel; and infant son: Charles; her in-laws: George and Hazel Whitesel; her sister and brother-in-law: Nora and Nick DeLuca; and brother-in-law, Norman Whitesel.
In keeping with Alice’s wishes there will be a private memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church in memory of Alice.
