HOCKEY
Indiana fell behind, 2-0, at West Allegheny in the first period last night, but came storming back with two goals in the second period and two more in the third for a 4-2 win.
All of the goals were even strength, starting with Jackson Albert’s score at 4:26 of the second period, followed by a game-tying goal by Zdeno Dzuro at 9:37. Matt Stone netted the go-ahead goal, unassisted, at 12:32 of the third and Gabe Nettleton got the empty-netter at 16:46 to lock up the win.
Nettleton and Grayson Brunetto each had assists for Indiana and Luke Rowe made 21 saves. Indiana outshot West Allegheny 28-23 in the game, including 12-4 in the second period, when they tied the game.
The Indians will be back on the ice at the Belmont Arena in Kittanning on Thursday against Freeport.
VOLLEYBALL
Indiana swept River Valley in a non-conference match, 3-0. The scores were 25-10, 25-12, 25-22. Stella Stossel had 15 kills. Paige Fisanich had 11 kills. Allison Lichtenfels had 5 kills and 3 blocks. Rebecca Roccetti had 7 digs. Indiana is 11-1 overall and 9-0 in section.
Indiana won the JV match 2 sets to 0.
GIRLS SOCCER
Indiana blanked West Mifflin, 4-0. Emily Betsinger, Jillian Ranes, Madelyn Williams and Hannah Ianarelli all scored goals and Julia Antonacci earned the shutout in goal.
BOYS SOCCER
Gideon Bracken scored in the first half and Carter Payne scored in the second as United shut out Cambria Heights 2-0. Bracken assisted on Payne’s goal. Jackson Wirick had a busy night in goal, turning aside 15 shots for the shutout.
Gideon Bracken is five goals away from breaking United’s career goal-scoring record with four regular season games left.
