After Pennsylvania’s secretary for the Department of Revenue failed to comply with a recent subpoena issued by the Senate Intergovernmental Operations Committee, leaders in Harrisburg are taking steps in ensuring transparency and a balance of power in legislative branches.
Senate Resolution 334 was introduced by President Pro Tempore Kim Ward and Majority Leader Joe Pittman after Patrick Browne failed to comply with a subpoena ordering him to appear before the bar of the Senate for questioning regarding Allentown’s Neighborhood Improvement Zone.
Pittman said in a news release that the purpose is to have Browne explain why he cannot “comply with the Senate subpoena that was issued earlier this year.” He adds they have asked for information by “every other means” and their efforts “have continually been thwarted.”
Browne now has three legislative days to appear before the bar and explain his reasoning.
