The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection will host some listening sessions throughout the state and online to get public feedback on two programs that will help homeowners lower their energy costs.
One program that will be discussed is the Home Efficiency Rebate. It incentivizes energy efficiency updates through air-sealing, insulation, heating, ventilation and air conditioning along with other options. The state wishes to prioritize funding multi-family affordable housing projects with this rebate. The other program is the Home Electrification and Appliance Rebate. This program provides rebates per unit for low to moderate income families to incentivize the adoption of heat pumps for space heating and cooling, heat pump water heaters, clothes dryers, and electric stoves, cooktops, ranges or ovens. Rebate funds can also be used to cover electric load service centers, wiring, insulation, air-sealing and mechanical ventilation products.
The closest listening session to us will be in Pittsburgh at the Kingsley Association building on Frankstown Avenue on October 17th, but the DEP will hold a listening session online on the 24th at 6:00 PM.
