Water conservation efforts were discussed at Tuesday night’s Blairsville Borough Council meeting.
The mandatory water conservation order was issued earlier this month by the Blairsville Municipal Authority. Borough Manager Jody Poorbaugh said that the reservoir is still below where it needs to be.
There has been enough rain to lift the burning ban that the fire department put in place. Police Chief Lou Sacco reminds everyone that burning in Blairsville borough is permitted between 8 AM and 8 PM on Tuesdays and Saturdays only for October and November, and the second and fourth Tuesdays and Saturdays from 8 AM to 8 PM for the rest of the year.
Chief Sacco also announced that he was named to serve on the Chiefs Association of Pennsylvania’s Mental Health Committee. This is the first committee of its type for the association, and will address mental health needs of police officers, foster better community relationships, support residents with mental health challenges, proactive prevention of mental health issues, holistic public safety approach and reducing liability and legal risk.
