George Daniel “Dan” Ringler, age 92, of Blairsville passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 surrounded by loved ones. He was born on October 3, 1932 to John and Florence (Donahue) Ringler. Dan graduated from Blairsville High School in 1950 and served in the United States Marines First Division during the Korean War. Following his military service, he went to the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy.
Dan married JoAnne (Heasley) Ringler on June 28, 1958. Dan worked as a pharmacist for more than 30 years at Latrobe Hospital and co-owned Grimm’s Drugstore in Ligonier until his retirement in 1997. Dan enjoyed reading, traveling with his family, defeating them in Trivial Pursuit, and attending sports events as a season ticket holder for the Pittsburgh Steelers and University of Pittsburgh Panthers Men’s Basketball.
Dan is survived by JoAnne, his sons and daughters-in-law, David Daniel “Dan” and Kristi Ringler and John Michael “Mike” and Meg Ringler, four beloved grandchildren, Cassidy, Mason, Lily and Phoebe Ringler, brother-in-law Rex Heasley, five nieces, and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Jack, Paul and Eileen.
At Dan’s request, visitation will be privately held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Blairsville Public Library, 113 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA 15717 or a charity of your choice.
