Indiana Borough Police are investigating an incident that happened at a bus stop Monday morning in the area of Chestnut and North 7th Street.
Shortly before 9 a.m., a student reported that a stranger approached them “in an alarming way” while they were at the bus stop. Officers say the student was approached by a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt and walking a dog, and they attempted to grab the student while saying “come here.”
Physical contact was not made and the man quickly left the area, according to police, and an investigation started shortly after the report was made. This consisted of canvassing neighborhoods, reviewing available surveillance footage, and conducting several interviews.
Officers are working with district officials in the investigation, and they are increasing their presence in pick-up and drop-off areas.
If you know anything about the incident, you are asked to report it to Indiana Borough Police at 724-349-2121. Parents are also urged to talk with their children about “stranger danger” and how to react if a stranger were to approach them.
