At the County Elections Board meeting on Wednesday, the Indiana County Commissioners approved allowing people who made an error on their mail-in ballot envelope a chance to correct it.
Under the system approved by the County Commissioners, voters with a missing or incorrect date or a missing signature on the outer envelope will be contacted by the phone or email address provided about the error. The voter would have a chance to correct the envelope by going to the county election office and correcting it in person or by voting provisionally on election day. Commissioner Sherene Hess, who made the motion, made it clear that this would be for errors on the envelope only, not on the ballot.
The commissioners also reminded everyone that people can apply for a mail-in ballot at the courthouse office, cast their ballot and turn it in the same day, but that process takes time, and with people also coming in to correct envelopes, Commissioner Mike Keith said people should have some extra patience as the staff is doing everything they can.
The last day to request a mail-in ballot is October 29th. You can find more information on how to do it at the Voter Registration Office at the Courthouse or by logging on to vote.pa.gov.
