On Wednesday night, the White Township Supervisors approved the winning bid for the Waterworks Road project.
The winning bid was submitted by Bison Construction at a cost of $292,745, which is under the projected $300,000 cost. The project will consist of the installation of steel sheet pilings to cut off a slide area and do a full depth reclamation of the road base along with paving and stormwater drainage. Township manager Chris Anderson said that this was the first time that the township used the online PennBid portal to accept bids instead of having bids mailed through the township.
The topic of burning in White Township was also brought up. While a burning ban is not in place yet, code enforcement officer John Major said people should be careful with any campfires or other burning.
People are reminded that burning leaves in the township is not allowed, but the township has started to collect leaves on Mondays. They must be stored in biodegradable paper bags and placed by the curb on the day of pickup.
