An Indiana woman was sentenced on Friday for stealing thousands of dollars from an elderly woman in 2022.
Indiana County District Attorney Robert Manzi said 35-year-old Jacquline Caylor will serve five years of probation as well as pay restitution and other conditions after she pleaded guilty to felony theft and forgery charges dating back to December 8, 2022. State police said family members of an 88-year-old woman became suspicious after several transactions were made from her bank account, and an investigation revealed more than $23,000 was stolen after several checks were made in Caylor’s name and signed without the woman’s permission and various credit card purchases.
Caylor contacted Your Hometown Radio Stations claiming the charges were reduced, but Manzi later confirmed they were all waived to the county Court of Common Pleas.
In a statement, Manzi said Caylor “is a demonstration of why families are so reluctant to find in-home care for their loved ones.” He adds she set her caretaker obligations aside and thought “only of herself” when stealing from the woman.
