State representative Brian Smith, who represents a portion of Indiana and all of Jefferson County, has issued a statement after reports of voter registration fraud in York and Lancaster Counties.
He said that in Lancaster County, as many as 2,500 fake voter registration applications have been discovered as part of a recent investigation, and a similar investigation is going on in York County. Smith said that the issue should not pit one party against the other, but all sides should work together to make sure that Pennsylvanians are not disenfranchised over the election process, and said one method would be to require voters to show ID at each election.
Until then, he says that everyone should be on the lookout for further stunts like what happened in Lancaster and York Counties. He also thanked election workers for their efforts to make sure that election integrity is intact.
