Along with helping out with various trick-or-treat efforts, Thursday was a busy day for Indiana County’s first responders.
Things started at 2:58 PM when a brush fire was reported on Ondo Road in Center Township. Homer City and Coral Graceton fire departments were called to the scene initially, while Blairsville, Black Lick, Armagh and Indiana fire associations were called to assist a minute later. Coal Run/McIntyre and Cherryhill Township fire departments went into standby mode about a half-hour later.
Another brush fire was called in at 11:19 PM along Route 286 East in Montgomery Township. Commodore fire department was dispatched for that call. These marked the 59th and 60th brush fires in Indiana County this year so far.
Two vehicle accidents were reported on Thursday, with one at 5:31 PM along Fleming Road in White Township. Indiana fire crews, Citizens Ambulance and state police were called to the scene. The other crash was on Aultman Avenue Extension. Commodore fire department was called to assist other firefighters at 5:59.
