Former Pirate player and current broadcaster Neil Walker will come to Indiana next month for the Indiana County Chamber of Commerce’s annual meeting.
Neil Walker will speak at the annual meeting scheduled for December 10th at the Indiana Country Club. Walker, a Pittsburgh native played 12 seasons in Major League Baseball, many of them with the Pirates before going to the Mets, Brewers, Yankees, Marlins and Phillies. After retiring from the game in 2021, he returned to Pittsburgh to become a part of the Pirates broadcast team.
Chamber president Mark Hilliard said that the inspiration to have Walker as the guest speaker was that the past year has been monumental for local baseball and softball teams that competed for championships at the state, national and world level. Hilliard said that Walker’s speech will focus on overcoming the odds and adversity, and persevering through challenging times.
Along with Walker’s speech, the chamber will announce the recipient of the 2024 Chamber Employer of the Year and the 2025 class of the Indiana County Chamber Business Hall of Fame. A VIP event will start at 2:00 at the Indiana Country Club, with the meeting to start at 3:00. Tickets are available through the chamber by calling 724-465-2511.
