The number of confirmed flu cases in Indiana County is still low, but it is increasing and Westmoreland County’s cases have increased even more rapidly.
Since October 5th, Indiana County has added 13 new cases of lab-confirmed flu, giving it 18 cases this season. Next door in Westmoreland County, the flu cases total 71. Armstrong reports 10 cases so far this flu season, while Jefferson, Cambria, and Clearfield have yet to report any. The state Health Department anticipates a rising case count this week as hospital data will begin to be reported. Allegheny County leads the state with 173 flu cases reported so far.
