Citizens in Indiana, Armstrong, Westmoreland and Jefferson Counties are being warned to be careful with fire as there is an increased risk of fire spread this afternoon.
The National Weather Service says that relative humidity levels are expected to drop into the upper 30s to lower 40s percent range this afternoon during peak heating hours. Combine that with winds gusting at 15 to 20 miles an hour and conditions will be very ripe for the spread of any fire that may get out of control.
The national weather service says enhanced caution should be used in activities that involve open flames or sparks. The advisory remains in place until 5:15 this evening.
As for water levels, Indiana, Westmoreland and Clearfield counties remain in a Drought Watch according to the National Weather Service. Blairsville Municipal Authority and the Indiana County Municipal Services Authority have voluntary water conservation requests in place.
