After an early morning call for a brush fire on Sunday, Indiana County fire crews dealt with two more brush fires as part of a busy day of calls.
The first brush fire was reported at 12:11 AM on Phillips Road in Young Township, bringing the Iselin and Coal Run fire departments out. The second was on Overlook Drive in White Township at 11:40 AM. Indiana, Homer City and Creekside fire departments were dispatched at the time. Creekside fire officials said on the department’s Facebook page that winds changed direction several times as crews were fighting the fire, causing it to move in different directions at once. No word on the cause of the fire. DCNR District 6 assisted crews on-scene and Plumville fire department was on standby detail.
The third brush fire was at 8:16 PM on Route 259 in Brush Valley Township. Brush Valley and Homer City fire crews were called out at the time.
This now brings the total to 68 brush fires this year in Indiana County.
