State Senator Joe Pittman has been re-elected the Senate Majority Leader for the 2025-26 legislative session.
Pittman was selected to the post by his fellow Republican Senators on Wednesday. He will be the second-highest ranking Republican in the Senate, behind Majority Leader Kim Ward, who was also re-elected to her post yesterday. Pittman said yesterday that with a 28-22 majority in the Senate, the Republican party will focus on empowering the citizens.
Pittman’s duties as the Majority Leader will include setting the legislative agenda, developing policies and strategies for the caucus, and chairing the senate Rules and Executive Nominations committee. He will also play a major role in negotiating with Governor Shapiro and the House of Representatives and oversee action on the senate floor.
Pittman was re-elected to his second term of office and ran unopposed in the 2024 general election.
