A man who pleaded guilty to 15 counts of child pornography possession was ordered to serve time in state prison today.
At a sentencing hearing at Indiana County Court, 29-year-old Austin Bingaman of Commodore was sentenced to serve one to five years for ten counts of child porn possession, and two to seven years for each of the remaining five counts. The sentences will run concurrently, meaning that he will remain in state prison for up to seven years.
The charges go back to incidents on January 1st of 2022. In March of this year, agents with the State Attorney General’s office conducted a search at his home on Hancock Street and discovered the explicit images on his phone. On August 2nd, Bingaman pleaded guilty to 15 counts of child pornography possession, while the other counts were not prosecuted.
Also sentenced this morning was 50-year-old James Taylor of Ford City. In one case, he pleaded guilty to a charge of depositing, storing or disposing of chemical waste, for which he was ordered to serve 1-3 years in state prison. In his second case, he was ordered to serve one to two years in prison for possession of red phosphorous. Both are connected with meth lab investigations. The sentences will run concurrently.
