At a meeting Tuesday night, Indiana Borough Council approved the transfer of a liquor license into the borough for a new pizza place.
The restaurant liquor license will be transferred from Conemaugh Township into Indiana Borough to be used by the ownership of the new Vocelli Pizza location on Oakland Avenue in the former Pizza House location. Owner John McNab said that one concern that had been raised previously was the fact that the location would be very close to a college. He said he has a similar location in Ohio, and has a great track record for safety.
The vote went six to one with Jessica Frick voting against it and Betsy Sarneso abstaining from the vote.
Council also approved advertising the proposed 2025 tax ordinance. At the voting meeting earlier this month, council gave preliminary approval to a budget that will include a one mil tax increase.
