The Indiana County Commissioners this morning approved advertising the 2025 budget, which contains a small increase in taxes.
Revenues are expected to be $56,755,645 while the anticipated expenditures are $56,822,299. To fill the $66,654 budget gap, property taxes will increase by .4 mills to 6.105 mills. For the average property owner, it will be a $42 increase.
Indiana County Commissioners Chairman Mike Keith said that it is always tough to increase taxes, but there are still a lot of costs to cover.
The budget will be up for final approval at their next meeting on December 11th.
Also, the county authorized a request to drop Value Drug Company from the ongoing opioid lawsuit. Solicitor Matt Budash said that the National Consortium made the recommendation as the lawsuit against Value Drug may not yield substantial results.
Commissioners also approved two grant applications. One will be for $475,000 in federal Appalachian Regional Commission Access Road grants to build two new access roads at Windy Ridge Business and Technology Park. The other is for up to $1 million in Commonwealth Financing Authority Local Share Account Statewide grants to construct a new entrance road to Buttermilk Falls in West Wheatfield Township.
