As the Pennsylvania Mountains Rural Health Conference came to a close at the KCAC on Thursday, four people received the inaugural Rural Health IMPACT Awards.
The awards were established to recognize individuals and organizations for their efforts in improving the health and well-being of rural community residents. This year’s recipients were:
- Rachel Grove, Director of Ambulatory Social Services with IRMC Physician Group
- Joe Bujdos, Mental Health Director for Armstrong-Indiana Behavioral and Developmental Health Program
- Dr. Joann Migyanka, faculty, IUP Special Education
- Tammy Calderone, Administrator for Armstrong-Indiana Behavioral and Developmental Health Program
Grove was surprised, yet appreciative, to receive the award.
Bujdos owed his gratitude to the long-standing connection with the community.
Calderone was also grateful for receiving her award, but she was also pleased to see the conference go on without a hitch.
Dr. Jim Kinneer, Chief Human Resources Officer at IRMC, said this year’s conference was memorable and they can’t wait to see what next year’s brings.
The awards ceremony took place during Thursday’s closing remarks in Toretti Auditorium.
