Democratic incumbent Bob Casey is conceding Pennsylvania’s Senate election to Republican Dave McCormick.
In a video posted on social media Thursday, Casey said he had called McCormick to congratulate him on his victory. He said he appreciated the work of all those who helped make this a fair election.
Casey’s announcement comes 16 days after the November 5th election. As of Wednesday when an automatic recount began, McCormick led Casey by roughly 16,000 votes. Casey had held the Senate seat since 2007. McCormick’s win will give the Republican Party a three-seat majority in the Senate, beginning in January.
