Central Clarion scored on a touchdown pass 59 seconds into the game and kept up that pace, with touchdowns on their first five possessions, as they routed District 6 champion Cambria Heights, 49-6 in the PIAA Class AA football quarterfinals.
Jase Ferguson led an offense that compiled 485 yards and scored on seven of its nine possessions. The balanced attack featured 262 rushing yards and 223 passing yards. Ferguson threw for all of the yardage through the air, with three touchdowns, and ran for 141 yards with three more TDs. He has thrown for 3.127 yards with 49 touchdowns this season and run for 1,267 with 16 touchdowns. In four years as a starting quarterback, Ferguson has thrown 146 touchdown passes and run for 37.
Cambria Heights, ending its season at 13-1, could score only once, on a 49-yard touchdown pass from Isaac Weiland to Trey Trybus on the first play of the second quarter.
