Nine Indiana County education agencies will receive portions of $100 million in non-competitive school safety grants from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency.
The awards announced last week complete the $120 million in school safety grants program package that was approved in the 2024-25 budget. The grants are meant to address physical security and behavioral health needs. Governor Josh Shapiro said that the resources in the budget will give students better access to mental health supports and makes sure schools can upgrade technology and security measures to better protect students, staff and visitors.
Indiana Area School District will receive the most out of all of Indiana County’s Schools with $151,987. The rest of the schools will receive between $113,000 and $126,000. The Indiana County Technology Center and the ARIN Intermediate Unit will each receive $70,000.
