Five fire companies were initially called out for a reported structure fire in Downtown Indiana this morning.
The initial call was reported around 7:15 this morning for 9th Street Deli at the corner of 9th and Philadelphia Street. While Indiana, Clymer, Homer City, Coral-Graceton and Creekside fire departments, the HAZMAT team, Indiana Borough Police and Citizens’ Ambulance were dispatched at that time, Indiana fire officials sent the mutual aid back. The fire was reported in a grill in the kitchen of the restaurant, and 9th Street Deli employees were able to put the fire out before crews arrived.
Damage was minimal, no injuries were reported, and the restaurant is slated to open at its normal hours today.
