Tuesday night, Indiana Borough Council approved the proposed 2025 tax ordinance, fixing real estate tax rates for next year.
Very few changes were reported between the budget that was put up for advertisement in November and last night. There were slight adjustments to the tax revenues, but that was slight. For the average taxpayer, the bill will now come to $151. As a response to the tax hike, Council President Luke Debuyser introduced a resolution for a 2025 Cost Savings Agreement. The resolution acknowledges that while taxes increased, they will look at ways to reduce costs. The resolution was tabled to give the members of council a chance to look at the resolution.
Also tabled last night was the agreement between the borough and the Utility Workers Union of America Local #580. Borough Manager Nicole Sipos said that they are close to a final agreement.
The agreement will be up for final approval at the council’s work session on December 17th.
