An Indiana student is set to make his acting debut in Pittsburgh tonight.
Avery Schneider, a fifth-grade student at Horace Mann, will star as “Ralphie” in the Pittsburgh Public Theater’s production of “A Christmas Story: The Play” at the O’Reilly Theater tonight. Schneider has been interested in acting for a while and has taken part in a few productions with the Indiana Players and has been a part of their Shakespeare Monologue and Scene contest team that performs at the O’Reilly. It was that connection that helped him land the lead role in the show.
Audio PlayerThe play is a live theater re-telling of the classic Christmas movie from 1983 following the holiday adventures of an average child in the 1940’s who wants a Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas. Schneider said that Rehearsals have been going on for the last month in Pittsburgh, and preview performances this week have been great so far. The show runs now through December 22nd, with two performances on Saturdays and Sundays, and no performances on Mondays. Tickets are selling fast, so to get them, log on to www.ppt.org.
