A Kittanning man accused of failing to follow through on a home improvement contract had his preliminary hearing continued Wednesday morning.
Matthew James Wilson appeared before Judge Robert Bell, Sr., for charges of making a false statement to induce agreement for home improvement services; receiving advance payment for services and failing to perform them; and theft by deception, all felonies, dating back to an incident in July 2023.
A Burrell Township woman contacted Wilson through the company he owned – Nxt Gen Electrical Services, LLC. – requesting the installation of a backup generator at her home, and after both parties reached a verbal agreement and the woman paid $6,000 in advance, he did not follow through on the work nor did he respond to her when she contacted him.
Court officials say Wilson asked for a 60-day continuance as he tries to secure restitution money. No new date has been set for his hearing.
