A Kittanning man accused of failing to follow through on a home improvement contract will go before District Judge Robert Bell Sr. this morning for a preliminary hearing.
34-year-old Matthew James Wilson is charged with making a false statement to induce agreement for home improvement services; receiving advance payment for services and failing to perform; and theft by deception, all felonies, in connection with an incident in Burrell Township in July of 2023. State Police say an area woman contacted Wilson through the company he owned, Nxt Gen Electrical Services, LLC, and wanted a backup generator installed at her home. After reaching a verbal agreement and paying $6,000 in cash for the purchase and installation, he did not follow through on the work and did not respond to her when she tried to contact him.
A warrant was issued last November, and he turned himself in one day later.
