President-elect Donald Trump is going with an Indiana-area woman as his envoy to Sweden.
Trump announced yesterday that he selected Pennsylvania’s Republican Committee Chairperson Christine Toretti as his ambassador to Sweden. This marks the second time that Toretti was nominated by Trump to be a foreign envoy. In his previous administration, he nominated her to be the ambassador to Malta, but the Senate never confirmed the nomination.
Toretti is the chairperson and CEO of S.W. Jack Drilling Company and was elected to serve as the Republican National Committeewoman for Pennsylvania in 1997. Since then, she has played a key role in shaping GOP strategies, fundraising efforts and promoting women’s leadership. She also previously served as a member of the Trump transition team.
