Steelers’ offensive coordinator Arthur Smith interviewed yesterday for the vacant head coaching job with the Chicago Bears and is expected to interview today with the New York Jets. The 42-year-old former Atlanta Falcons head coach just concluded his first season in Pittsburgh. Both the Bears and Jets have spoken with a number of coaching candidates and expect to talk with several more.

In a procedural move, former Steeler Diontae Johnson was claimed by the Baltimore Ravens yesterday, a day after being released by Houston. The Ravens cut him loose last month after he refused to play in a game and the team and player mutually agreed that it wasn’t going to work out for him in Baltimore. Johnson is not eligible to rejoin the Ravens until the day after the Super Bowl, and then he’ll be a free agent, but the Ravens could gain a compensatory pick in the 2026 draft depending on the deal he signs in free agency.
