From the US National Weather Service
Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine and warmer temperatures today, because we’ve got a lot going on weather-wise starting late tonight into next week.
– Precipitation returns late tonight, perhaps beginning as snow or a rain/snow mix before turning predominantly to rain. A transition back to snow is expected later Saturday and continuing through Sunday. Projected amounts necessitated a Winter Storm Watch in the West Virginia ridges (Tucker and eastern Preston Counties), where snow may linger into Sunday night. Also, watch out for potential ice formation on roads Saturday night.
– A period of brutal. dangerous cold is then forecast starting Sunday night and continuing into Thursday. Temperatures may not rise above 10 degrees in some areas from Monday morning through Thursday morning, with the coldest temperatures expected Tuesday morning. We have issued an Extreme Cold Watch across our entire forecast area to highlight this.
