Martha Margaret (Soltis) Marron, 96, of Blairsville, PA (Derry Twp.) passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at her home.
The daughter of Stephen P. and Margaret M. (Kozenko) Soltis, she was born on December 11, 1928, in Duquesne, PA.
Martha graduated from Derry High School, Class of 1947.
Martha was a member of SS Simon and Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville, where she was a Eucharistic Minister, actively involved in the Angels of Compassion, and was also a member of The Catholic Daughters of the Americas. For over 45 years, she cared for and meticulously cleaned the church.
Surviving are her five children, John T. Marron III (Mary) of Newark, OH, Bonnie Marron (Donald Griffin) of Latrobe, Michael Marron (Diane) of Blairsville, Marty Stuchell (Todd) of Creekside and J. Gregory Marron (Jennifer) of Palmyra; eight grandchildren, John T. Marron IV, Bradlee Marron (Alyssia), Evan Marron (Jessica), Matthew Marron (Brianna), Cheyenne Swanson (Brent), Maverick Stuchell, Bret Marron, and Megan Marron; eight great grandchildren, Julijana Marron, Bayleigh Marron, Lainie Marron, Aura Mae Stuchell, Klein Stuchell, Leyland Swanson, Emerson Swanson, and Cassidy Swanson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, John T. Marron, Jr., whom she married in SS Simon & Jude Church, her four brothers, George Soltis, Michael Soltis, John Soltis, and Stephen Soltis, and her three sisters, Mary Sobota, Catherine Smith, and Frances “Jean” Burhenne, her grandchild, Allison Tyger, and great grandchild, Killian Stuchell.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 26, 2025, from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA where a Wake Service will be held on Sunday at 7:30 PM. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in SS Simon and Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville, with Rev. Segundino Laude celebrant.
Interment will be in the SS Simon & Jude Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
