A new report from the state Agriculture Department says Pennsylvania’s 107 county and community fairs generated about $1.1 billion for the state’s economy last year, with about four million visitors. The York County Fair, which is considered America’s first fair, was the most-attended fair in the state, at just shy of 400,000.
Visitors to Indiana County’s three fairs had a $7.22 million-dollar economic impact in direct output and an overall impact of $13.93 million.
The report compiled by ESO EConsult Solutions, Inc. of Philadelphia places fair attendance at 24,152 for the Cookport Fair, 20,421 for the Indiana County Fair, and 4,331 for the Ox Hill Fair.
