Lois M. (Bowman) Schrecengost, 89, Indiana, passed away peacefully in UPMC Shadyside, on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. She was born on June 13, 1935, in Indiana to the late Frederick and Nellie (Hanna) Bowman.
She graduated from Indiana High School in 1953 and was employed at IUP before her retirement in 2000. She also worked as a bookkeeper for many years for various businesses.
Lois loved travel, she enjoyed bus trips and going on many cruises with her family. Most of all, Lois loved raising and being around her family, friends and loved ones. Her family wishes her to be remembered as a loving, kind, and generous lady who always put the needs of others before herself.
Surviving Lois to cherish her memory are her children, daughter Victoria (Victor) Kent, of Greenville; daughter Catherine (Robert) Fox, of Indiana; son Thomas (Nancy) Schrecengost, of Manhiem, son Robert Schrecengost, of Indiana; Amy (Larry) George, of Shelocta, son John (Paula) Schrecengost, of Lebanon; twelve grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews that felt she was their favorite aunt, and many friends.
Besides her parents, Lois is preceded in death by her husband A. Gordon Schrecengost in 2018, brothers, Norman, Charles “Gene” and Edward “Bus” Bowman as well as a sister Wilma White.
At Lois’ request, all services will be private and have been entrusted to the care of the Bowser Minich Funeral Home.
