Indiana University of Pennsylvania has another partnership in place with a hospital for the proposed College of Osteopathic Medicine.
At a signing ceremony held today, IUP and the Armstrong County Memorial Hospital formally entered into a clinical training program agreement for students at the proposed C-O-T. IUP president Dr. Michael Driscoll said this agreement will help educate the next generation of doctors, and also the rural medicine setting will be beneficial down the road.
Nicole Geraci, the president and CEO of Armstrong County Memorial called it a historic day for the hospital, and said it showcases their commitment to rural healthcare delivery.

This is similar to the agreements that were signed by fellow Pennsylvania Mountains Care Network members IRMC and Punxsutawney Area Hospital. Dr. Miko Rose, the founding dean of the proposed college, said this will allow them to work together in many ways.
These agreements are an important part of the COCA accreditation process, which must be completed before the school can admit students. When the proposed college is accredited, the University anticipates welcoming its first class of students in the fall of 2027.
