Governor Josh Shapiro is scheduled to deliver his state budget address on Tuesday at 12:30 PM before a joint session of the General Assembly, kicking off this year’s effort at fashioning a spending and revenue plan for Pennsylvania.
The appropriations committees of both the House and Senate will review the proposal and then begin three weeks of hearings with the various departments and agencies. Representative Jim Struzzi, the House Appropriations Committee chairman, says the House will then return to session and get down to business, aiming for a new budget by the time the new fiscal year starts on July 1st.
The session on Tuesday also begins a busy week of committee meetings and votes on a number of bills.
