An ordinance for the proposed Indiana County Emergency Medical Service Authority was tabled by Homer City Borough Council Tuesday night.
The council had tabled it at the authority meetings in January, wishing to discuss it before the full board. Councilman Matt Black expressed his disagreement with the idea, saying that the plan to add an extra fee to residents and businesses would force more people to leave the county and live elsewhere.
Kenneth “Cal” Cecconi said that he was in favor of it as there would be a layer of oversight with the board, and he believes that even if they pass the ordinance, there is still a way out if things don’t work out.
The issue will come back before the board once they receive some answers.
Also last night, the board approved setting the last official day for Police Chief Anthony Jellison as March 5th. After that day, Chief Jellison can continue to work as a part-time officer while arbitration discussions go on between the police union and the borough’s personnel committee. After a settlement is reached, Jellison will have the option to continue in a part time position.
