The search for a missing Westmoreland County man and the first brush fire of 2025 were among the calls for Indiana County’s first responders on Friday.
Blairsville, Tunnelton and Saltsburg fire departments were dispatched at 10:14 AM to help look for John Dofolio, who was last seen at his home in New Derry. The teams were sent to Westinghouse Road in Derry Township, where his car was found on Wednesday. He has not been found as of yet. We have a description and a photo of him in a story on our website. Indiana County’s first brush fire of 2025 was reported at 6:05 PM at a home on Route 422 East in White Township. That brought the Indiana Fire Association out at the time.
Other calls for service included three vehicle accidents: One on Oakland Avenue in White Township at 2:32 PM, the second on Philadelphia Street at 4:04 PM and the third on Ben Franklin Road in White Township at 10:35 PM. The Indiana Fire Association, State Police and Citizen’s Ambulance were dispatched at the time.
Crews from the Brush Valley and Vintondale fire departments were called out in the 5:00 hour this morning for a vehicle fire in a driveway on Schultz Road. Brush Valley chief Dave Overdorff said that a neighbor had spotted the fire and notified the car’s owner. A car parked next to it did take on some heat damage but was not on fire. Crews were on the scene for less than an hour. No injuries were reported. No word on how the fire started.
