There is another status conference scheduled this week for Ronald Weiss, the Tunnelton man awaiting retrial for the March, 1978 murder of 16-year-old Barbara Bruzda.
Indiana County President Judge Thomas Bianco will get an update on the pretrial proceedings. In 1997, Weiss was convicted of the teenager’s murder, which occurred after he’d spent some time with her shooting pool at her father’s bar. Her body was found beneath some leaves about five months later.
Weiss’s conviction was overturned by a federal judge in 2018 and he has been fighting a retrial ever since. No new date has been set.
The status conference is scheduled for Wednesday.
