Spring Training continues for the Pirates, but the main concern has been first base and who would fill it.
Pirates General Manager Ben Cherington said that they are talking with free agents and open to potential trades, but no deals are imminent. The team is looking to fill the slot that would have been occupied by Spencer Horowitz, who will be out at least 6-8 weeks out after wrist surgery. Horowitz came to Pittsburgh in a trade with the Cleveland Guardians for right handed starter Luis Ortiz and minor leaguers Josh Hartle and Michael Kennedy.
