There are still more issues to work through before the Ronald Weiss murder retrial can move forward. Indiana County President Judge Thomas Bianco last week ordered yet another status conference for Weiss, who in 1997 was convicted of the murder of 16-year-old Barbara Bruzda of Tunnelton. Bruzda was last seen alive in October of 1978. Her body was found buried beneath a pile of leaves the following March.
Weiss’s conviction was overturned by a federal judge in 2018 and he was ordered released but was immediately taken back into custody and the charges refiled. The State Supreme Court rejected his appeal of a retrial.
The next status conference is scheduled before Judge Bianco on March 10th.
