INDIANA COUNTY UNDERAGE DRINKING OFFENSES RANK SIXTEENTH IN STATE

According to a new report by the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts, Indiana County had 2.32 percent of the state’s underage drinking offenses over a five-year period between 2019 and 2023. That’s the 16th-highest percentage of the state’s 67 counties.

Centre County had the highest percentage of underage drinking offenses, at 10.81 percent, followed by Allegheny (7.98%) and Chester (7.34%).

The numbers show a significant drop in underage drinking offenses after the pandemic hit. Statewide, there were 9,749 offenses in 2019, compared to 6,814 in ’23. In Indiana County, there were 249 underage drinking offenses in 2019, 112 in 2020, 129 in ’21, 152 in ’22 and 140 in 2023.

The numbers do not include driving under the influence offenses involving underage motorists.
