With their hopes of making the NCAA Tournament fading fast, Pitt turned to an unlikely source for inspiration Saturday, downing Miami 74-65. Little-used freshman Amsal Delalic came off the bench to score 14 points, many of them in the crucial final eight minutes, as the Panthers held off the determined Hurricanes.
Ishmael Leggett scored 21 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, and Cam Corhen had 17 rugged points in the lane. Freshman Brandin Cummings contributed 11 points and worked the point for much of the game in place of the injured Jaland Lowe, Pitt’s leading scorer who missed the game with concussion symptoms.
Pitt is 15-10, 6-8 in the ACC, with a game coming on Tuesday against Syracuse at the Petersen Events Center.
