Pennsylvania’s trout season begins on April 5th and the state’s trout stocking schedule in our area begins this coming Friday, with the meeting place at Frazier Brothers Hardware along Route 210 near Shelocta at noon.
Meanwhile, the Pennsylvania Aquaculture Advisory Council last week alerted property owners who normally stock their private ponds or streams that the drought last year caused a significant shortage of hatchery-raised trout, and they may have to look for out-of-state suppliers to get their fish this year. That comes with a warning that a Notice of Stocking must be filed and written permission obtained from the Fish and Boat Commission before out-of-state fish can be stocked.
